Reading Price Charts

Charts show how prices have changed over time. Here's how to read them.

Line Charts

Line charts connect data points with a line, making it easy to see the overall trend. The X-axis shows time (days, weeks, months) and the Y-axis shows the price or rate.

Uptrend vs Downtrend

An uptrend means prices are generally rising over the period. A downtrend means they're falling. Flat lines suggest stability or consolidation.

What Historical Data Shows

Historical charts help you see patterns, volatility, and how an asset has performed over different timeframes. Past performance does not guarantee future results.

Using Different Timeframes

Shorter periods (7 days) show recent movements. Longer periods (90 days) reveal broader trends. Use both to get a fuller picture.

Applying Chart Data

Charts show how prices have changed over time. To quantify the change between two specific values — for example, a stock or crypto price — use our Percentage Change Calculator. It shows the percent gain or loss between any two numbers.
